Having lessons with Nikki has got to be the best thing that has happened to my riding. My confidence and riding has improved so much in such a short time. I went from going to jelly when I heard the word “Canter” to now being able to confidently canter on my own! But it’s not just my confidence that has grown, my horse Rabbit is now much more relaxed and easier to ride. So I think Rabbit would like to say a big thank you to Nikki as well.
"Nikki is the most amazing instructor I have come across in the 30 years I have been riding. Nikki has transformed the way I ride and made a marked improvement in my horses way of going, the results are evident in my improved competition results and positive comments received from horsey friends. Nikki is full of passion and enthusiasm, Nikki has an excellent eye for spotting when you are not quite doing something or sitting 100% and helps you through visualisation and other techniques to correct it. Nikki creates a positive learning environment that gives you the skills and confidence to progress between lessons. I am amazed with the results I have experienced." Sarah Sharp, County Show Rider
"I'd had a riding accident and lost my confidence and with Nikki's help and Mary Wanless's 'Riding with your Mind' approach to teaching I have gained the ability to ride confidently and without fear. Riding more confidently I am in-tune with the horse who is more accepting of the bit and rides in a better outline than ever before. All thanks to Nikki". Gwin Foley, Leisure Rider
"Nikki is a very good instructor with unusual and memorable methods of teaching. We have learnt loads of different things like 'cheese behind the knees' and how to 'bear out'. With Nikki's instruction we have built up a better partnership with our ponies, we really look forwards to her lessons as we always learn heaps" Ellice & Amy, aged 12
"Patience, tenacity and enthusiasm are a few desirable qualities that Nikki acquires. From experiencing various instructors I can honestly say Nikki is a rare find; using useful analogies to reduce the complexity in riding is a brilliant teaching skill; something which I know many people have benefitted from. Owning a super-sensitive mare naturally comes with its downfalls but Nikki was very persevering trialling various methods to improve the situation. I’ve had a long journey with my mare but the outcome is unbelievable: this I owe to Nikki. I have a responsive, safe, hard-working horse because Nikki taught me those essential changes in my position to get the most out of her. Therefore, I am finally enjoying schooling and showjumping which I struggled with before due to control problems. Not only a confidence-builder but Nikki has introduced techniques which have altered my riding for the better, something which I am very grateful for. I encourage anyone at any level to contact Nikki; I guarantee you will enjoy yourself, learn about how to make those vital tweaks and ultimately, over time, fix the problem so you too experience your horse at its maximum potential whilst having fun. You could not ask for a better combination. If you wish for this, my advice would simply be to contact Nikki." Claire Norton, Leisure and Competition Rider
"I started lessons with Nikki about a year ago and although I have ridden on and off for many years I have never been that in tune with how a horse works! She has re-aligned my position and taught me how to change the outline of a horse by using my body. She is always ready to answer all questions, however trivial and gives praise when due, and its really helpful to know when you are doing something right! I look forward to my lesson each week and always come away with something new to work on and a new muscle that aches! I would recommend her to anyone wishing to improve their riding and to get their horse in a better place." Lorraine Butler, Leisure Rider
"I am in my forties and have been riding for approximately 8 years. I have had regular riding lessons throughout that time and about a year ago I met Nikki. She is a very positive, patient and encouraging person with a passion for what she teaches. my confidence and ability have improved enormously in the year Nikki has been teaching me. As well as teaching me to ride a horse, Nicky is the only instructor I have met, to teach me how to 'read' the horse. I now understand that by making changes in myself (ie position), I can make a change in the horse. This makes me a better 'all round' rider, with a much better understanding of, and a connection with, the horse I'm riding.
She has also taught me the powers of positive thinking and says that if you are positive in your approach, then you have a much better chance of achieving the goal ........ And it works! Nikki is very specific in her instruction and the changes I may need to make. I have learnt a lot about myself and my own fitness, but the results the three of us have achieved have been instant and truly rewarding. I come away from every lesson feeling I have progressed and achieved something new. Thanks so much Nikki, your lessons are one of my weekly highlights!" Tracy Peck, Leisure Rider
I have known Nikki for years now and I have definitely learned more about riding and horses from her than I have from any other teacher. Her knowledge and understanding of equine behaviour, anatomy and psychology are second to none. She certainly knows how to get the best from your horse, whatever type you may be lucky enough to own! What really sets her apart from other teachers I have known is her understanding and appreciation of the needs of individual riders. Nikki is such a confidence-giver. She can help even the most nervous of riders to feel that they really CAN achieve their aims. She has such a talent for helping the rider visualise their interaction with their horse, having multiple ways of explaining things. That has helped me so much over the years. Nikki's jump clinics are such tremendous fun as well as being so rewarding, for both rider and horse! Alison Jefcoat, leisure rider, aka "Crazyhorse"
